SCANSECT Oslo 2026 – Pediatric ECMO and Evolving Perfusion Practice
The primary focus of SCANSECT 2026 in Oslo will be pediatric ECMO, highlighting clinical decision-making, technical strategies, and outcome optimization in pediatric extracorporeal life support. The program aims to address contemporary challenges in cannulation strategies, circuit management, patient selection, complication management, and evolving technologies within pediatric mechanical circulatory support.
In addition to the pediatric ECMO program, the SCANSECT scientific committee aims to explore complementary topics within perfusion and extracorporeal circulation. Areas under consideration include developments in cardioplegia strategies, hematocrit management during cardiopulmonary bypass, implementation of VR-based simulation in training and education, perspectives related to the EBCP Expert Consensus Document, and selected Master’s projects from the Scandinavian School of Cardiovascular Technology. These themes reflect SCANSECT’s broader commitment to advancing evidence-based practice, education, research, and innovation within the field.
As speaker invitations are currently being finalized, the detailed program will continue to evolve. Our ambition is to deliver a clinically relevant and scientifically robust meeting that strengthens collaboration between clinicians, perfusionists, researchers, and industry partners.
We look forward to engaging with sponsors and industry representatives who share our commitment to advancing pediatric extracorporeal care and shaping the future of perfusion practice.
